Students Past & Present

Liz Amaral, a native New Yorker, owned a restaurant and children's boutique near Harvard Square, has been an industrial purchasing agent, now a real estate broker with Brown Harris Stevens in NYC.  Liz is currently finishing a book of short stories to be published by iUniverse.  She lives in Chelsea with her husband.  Her son and his wife live in Far West Village

Karen Anderson grew up in Southern California, but now resides in Newport, RI.  She is working on a collection of poems for her forthcoming book titled, Learning to Breathe Underwater.  Karen teaches literature, writing, and drama.  Long drives and quiet talks are among her favorite things to enjoy with her husband and best friend, Drew.  She would like to thank Kathrin for introducing her to this transformative practice—method writing—which has opened so many magical doors and allowed her to meet some extraordinary fellow writers.

Dale Becker, is a part-time poet, who lives, writes (not as much as he would like), works, survives and thrives as best as he can in Los Angeles, CA.

Sandra A. Daley says, “My family is the biggest source of inspiration for my writing.” She admits that she enjoys sharing the challenges and insights that come with being a wife, mother, and stepmother with others.  Gone are the days of the Beaver Family, mom and dad and two or three children.  The norm today, she adds, is blended families, ex-wives, new wives, and stepfathers working together.  When we are determined to work together and learn from each other, our children are happy and healthy.  Sandra A.  Daley is also a professional actress.  She works in Theatre, Film, and you have probably seen her on many commercials and Television shows like, Law & Order, All My Children, and Sex and the City.  She lives in New York City with her husband Ali, their daughter Taiya, and expecting another girl in the Spring.  She has two stepchildren Amir and Alia.

Gregory DiStefano is a spiritual explorer, truth-seeker, integral philosophy enthusiast and national award-winning marketing consultant for clients that have included Piaget, MSNBC, Hugo Boss, QVC, and diamond giant De Beers.  He holds degrees from two Ivy League universities and resides in Providence, R.I., where he works in the field of higher education. Sally Donaldson is a clinical psychologist in private practice in NYC. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, daughter and two cats.  She is currently working on a memoir about life in a stepfamily.

Dottie Foote works with high school students in the areas of social justice through the Diversity Coalition, an after-school program she developed.  She holds a Ph.D.  in education, gender studies, and psychology, is the mother of 3 teenagers, and lives in Rockport, Maine.

Hannah R. Goodman, M.Ed, is the author of the Y.A. novel, My Sister¹s Wedding, which won the first place award for The Writer¹s Digest International Self-Publishing Contest, 2004, children¹s book division.  A former high school English teacher, she now owns The Write Touch and teaches her writing program Releasing The Writer Within.

Carole Isenberg is a New Yorker who moved to Los Angeles in 1968 for a year and stayed for 34. After four years in New York she is ready to leave again. She is a curious adventurer who is a partner, lover, mother, grandmother, writer, reader, cook and shopper. Exploring what is at the heart of things is her calling.

Rosalind Lazarus is writing a memoir-novel in the voice of a young adolescent girl.  She is an attorney who does aviation enforcement at the Department of Transportation.  She is the former Vice President of Washington Area Lawyers for the Arts, which she helped to found.

Kate Lunsford is an actress/writer and lives in Manhattan.

Adelaide Mestre is an actress, singer and writer living in NYC.  She has performed in numerous theatrical productions, musicals and cabarets. Most recently she appeared on stage in her solo performance pieces DeadMosquito in the One Woman Standing Festival at Emerging Artists Theatre and “Out of Step” at Where Eagles Dare Theatre.

Marilyn Moss started writing in 2001 when she sold her Tension Fabric Structures business, after 30 years, which she co-founded, and hasn’t stopped writing since. She is working on a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing at Spalding University. She lives in Maine with her husband, three dogs, five horses, and plays the piano when not writing. She is currently working on her memoirs about her childhood growing up in the rural Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia in the 40’s.

J.G. Murphy has lived in Rhode Island, New York, and California.  The "Method" as invented by Jack Grapes and taught to Murphy by Kathrin Seitz has been a revelation and a release.  Thank you both for your contributions to my growth and my continuing search.

Andrea Read received her PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of Chicago.  She has taught Spanish literature and language at Columbia College in Chicago, The University of Chicago, Stanford University and Beloit College. She was awarded second place in the W.B. Yeats Poetry Society competition and has had poems published in Painted Bride Quarterly and 3rd Bed.  She lives with her husband and three children in Brooks, Maine, where she is Director of the Newforest Institute.

Joe Ruggeri is a freelance web designer and photographer based in Newport, R.I.  He has been writing on and off since he could first grasp a crayon.  Joe worked as a newspaper reporter for a decade before taking up web design.  In addition to his freelance work, Joe serves as director of operations of the Newport International Film Festival, and has taught classes in website design & programming, digital photography and traditional black & white photography and darkroom methods.  When he finds free time, he pecks away at a memoir about growing up in a large Italian-Irish Catholic family.

Pamela Serure is an urban explorer, spending most of her time gathering and hunting for the best loaves of bread, martini's and vintage clothing. In the last few years her tripled bypassed heart has been leading her into the most amazing venues for speaking and writing. She has authored a book called Take it to Heart and is Co-Executive director of Events of the Heart, a non-profit that produces performance pieces, which will benefit women and heart research.  She hopes to retire on baguettes, red wine, and erotic poetry on the island of St Barts in the near future...

Kathrin Seitz is a catalyst, coach, mentor and teacher to writers at all levels, including novice and working writers.  She teaches Jack Grapes Method Writing () in group settings and to individuals.  She stresses process, teaching the writer to work from the inside out.  Seitz has more than thirty years experience in the entertainment business, working at, among other venues, ABC, CBS, Paramount, Warner Bros., Random House, and Nickelodeon and LEGO.

She is at work on a novel based on her experiences of being a single
mom in Hollywood and is the Publisher of Method Mad.
Seitz is the founder of the East Coast Collective of Writers, in association with the LA Collective of Writers and Poets.  Members participate in readings in New York City, Maine, and create Pod casts, also helping to produce and contribute to Method Mad Magazine.

Jasmine Shimoda was born in California but seasoned in New York.  She started writing regularly at the age of 12 and then stopped abruptly when she turned 18.  Through the wonders of Method Writing, the relentless efforts of her teacher Kathrin Seitz, and the constant encouragement of her classmates, at age 27 Jasmine has managed to pick up the pen where she left it and revisit the colorful (and sometimes dark) landscape of her past.  She currently resides in New York City, makes her living as a bartender, and is
working on a memoir.

Jerrie Smith lives in Texas and  Maine with her husband and various dogs. She is an Art Advisor, collector and traveler and is currently working on a book about her family.

Joanna Oltman Smith lives in Brooklyn with her husband and two toddling sons.  She is the author of two chapbooks, Because I Think So and Milk Scars.  She is a stay-at-home mom, and enjoys dancing and writing in her "free time."

David Peloqiun was born in 1948 in Providence, RI. He is a writer, illustrator, internationally known folk musician, and recording artist. His group, Compass Rose, performed at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 2000. With Jack Dalton, he co-authored and performed in  Listen to the Stories, a short play for young people sponsored by an ECHO grant.  His most recent published poetry appears in, The Other Side of Sorrow: Poets Speak Out About Conflict, War, and Peace.  He now resides in the deep woods of Windsor, Maine.

 M. Taylor Watson is a nature lover, gardener, Emerson worshipper, living in Maine.  Born in the South, grew up in LA, studies in Cambridge, painted in Rome, settled by the sea to read, write, paint.

Craig T. Williams is a husband/father/writer/producer living in Hell's Kitchen, New York. 

Rosalyn Williams, an accomplished actress, whose career includes Broadway, Film and Television, just finished filming the lead in the feature film Indelible. Rosalyn can be scene next in the new play Topsy Turvy Mouse at the Cherry Lane Theatre.  She’s most excited about her return to Broadway this spring in the New York premier of Radio Golf by August Wilson, the last episode in his ten play cycle.  Chief Creative Officer of Red Wall Productions, Rosalyn has directed over 20 short films including the award winning ALLERGIC TO NUTS, which has aired nationally on several TV stations and played in over 50 film festivals worldwide.  Rosalyn is a member of New York Women in Film and Television and a lifetime member of the Actors Studio.  She's a mom to Coleman and wife to Craig.

Lucinda Ziesing is a screenwriter, actress, and producer.  She performed in New York and Los Angeles where she was a founding member of the Painter's Theater and Powerhouse Theater.  She taught acting at Sarah Lawrence College. Currently She lives in Maine with her husband and 2 teenage sons where theater is to be created on stages and in pine forests
